  • Nexus Fostering was established in London 2002 in by a group of staff and carers who felt it was possible to offer a professional and personal service to Foster Carers, children, young people and local authorities.
  • Our vision at the beginning and continues to be:

Nexus Fostering is a well-established fostering agency that was set up and is run by Social Workers who are deeply committed to exceptionally high-quality placements, leading to the best possible outcomes for children and young people. This has been recognised by our long-standing local authority customers and by Ofsted with a consecutive Outstanding rating.

Since we were established in 2002 we have grown to cover a large area across England. We have managed our growth carefully to make sure that we don’t stretch ourselves too thinly so we can continue to provide our Foster Carers with outstanding levels of support when they really need it.

We have teams across our region who provide the local training and support to small groups of Foster Carers so each Nexus team knows the carers and their families as well as the children in their care.

It is important for us to maintain this community feel amongst our staff and Foster Carers and having the regional offices and teams allows us to do that.

Nexus Fostering began as an idea in 2001 having worked with Foster Carers all my adult life as a Social Worker. I believed by working together with carers as professional partners, we could provide enhanced and tailored support to enable them to care for the traumatised children and young people who would join their foster family.

From this idea, and with the support of staff and carers who are still with Nexus today, we now have a growing and thriving Nexus Fostering family. Based on mutual respect and professional teamwork we have achieved stunning changes for the lives of children and young people; ones that might be regarded as small for children with a settled stable and loving family, but massive steps for children who have survived trauma.

We are proud of each and every one of them and continue to develop services in partnership with our carers, to offer this to other children. I love my ‘job’ and hugely admire the Nexus teams of staff and carers who make the difference for these children and young people.
