foster care fortnight 2021

This Foster Care Fortnight is all about Why We Care. We celebrate this year in the hope to spread awareness of fostering, why it's needed and why more people are needed to care.

Foster Care Fortnight is upon us!

The fortnight is the UK’s biggest foster care awareness raising campaign, delivered by leading fostering charity, The Fostering Network. The campaign centres around showcasing the commitment, passion and dedication of Foster Carers, as well as raising awareness of the need for more Foster Carers.

This years theme is #WhyWeCare, so we’ll be sharing the reasons why our staff and Foster Carers care.

Nexus Foster Carer ‘S Green’ is one of our Nexus 360 carers. Once a child in care herself, she tells us the reason she cares:

“I grew up as a child in care – there were some good points and some bad, but it gave me the tools to  successfully transition into adulthood. When I had the opportunity to become a Foster Carer, I believed my experiences would help me understand and empathise with young people. I knew what it was like to be on my own and to be in a house with people who weren’t my own parents.”

Our amazing staff team are all supporting Foster Care Fortnight! They’ve written some wonderful words on this year’s #WhyWeCare placards which we’ll be sharing on our social channels.

“It provides a homely environment for children to be safe and cared for.”

“For children and young people to have a safe, secure and stable home to grow and flourish as individuals!”

“To support carers make positive changes for children.”

“Every child should have the opportunity to live in a safe, warm home where they can laugh and grow in confidence to explore their world.”

“To ensure all children receive the same opportunities in life.”

“Because there are children who are less fortunate than our own. Children need help & it’s good to help those in need. To see each little step (a big step for them) towards a better life makes it all worthwhile”.

If you could care, get in touch on the below form, for a friendly chat.

You won’t regret the ability to make a difference.
