  • We understand that fostering is ultimately rewarding but it can be a challenge that you cannot do on your own. You’ll need a reliable support network of friends and family, as well as the comprehensive and ongoing support that we provide.
  • In any role there is always more to learn, so you’ll benefit from further training and regular workshops to keep your knowledge up-to-date throughout your ongoing career as a Foster Carer.

24-hour support

Our support is second-to-none! We pride ourselves on offering 24/7 support, 365 days a year.

When you foster with Nexus, you’ll benefit from our out of hours service giving you access to a Social Worker who knows about you and your placement, 24/7. You’ll also be supported through phone calls and visits from your own dedicated Social Worker, outreach worker support and access to experienced local staff.

If you need more support, especially at the beginning of a new placement, our Supervising Social Workers and Social Work Assistants are always on hand to help.

Community meeting

training

To become a carer with Nexus Fostering, you need no specific qualifications other than an enjoyment of children and young people, the ability to provide them with a secure, caring family life and the enthusiasm to attend relevant training courses and support groups.

Even once you start fostering your learning doesn’t stop. The training programme becomes more personalised and tailored to reflect the needs of the children you are looking after.

We’re keen to help you develop your skills, so if our Foster Carers find a course they are interested in and there are enough carers to take part in the training, we’ll organise it!

There have been lots of training days to attend. Also, carer support groups have been helpful. Our link worker is a valuable source of information and is always on hand for help and support. It is nice to have 24-hour support if you need it from the duty worker.
