What does Ofsted Outstanding mean for us?

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education and Children’s Services. Their job is to inspect services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. Ofsted also inspects and regulates services that care for children and young people. In this blog, we will cover what an Outstanding from Ofsted means to us and what makes Nexus Fostering outstanding.

What Makes Us Outstanding?

In October 2018 Nexus Fostering was rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. This puts Nexus Fostering amongst the top fostering providers nationwide (which is only a handful of agencies). It also tells the foster parents that when Nexus Fostering say they will support them, they will, every step of the way.

We have been officially rated Outstanding by Ofsted on three consecutive occasions! Ofsted stated in their report, “The complex needs of children and young people are well understood by the Foster Carers and agency staff, who plan effectively to significantly reduce the risks.”

What truly makes Nexus Fostering outstanding is the work we provide for our foster families, our children, and young people. Every year thousands of new foster families are needed to care for the increasing number of vulnerable children coming into foster care. Our ethos is centered around unrivalled support for our carers, extensive training, and fostering excellence. Our management and social care teams have extensive experience in children’s social work and family placements and we work closely with local authorities to meet the needs of their children and provide safe and secure homes for all young people.

What Does An Outstanding Report Mean?

Ofsted categorises education and children’s services, such as schools or fostering agencies into 4 different categories, this tells us how well they are performing. The 4 categories are:

  • Outstanding
  • Good
  • Requires improvement
  • Inadequate

A rating of Outstanding from Ofsted means that Nexus Fostering provides the highest quality care for the children under their supervision. The Ofsted report for Nexus Fostering states that “Leaders and managers work in close partnership with carers and professionals to ensure that the welfare of each child and young person is at the heart of all their practice.” Nexus Fostering ensures that all of their children and young people build long-lasting relationships with their foster carers, who help them in their placement and beyond.

Here at Nexus Fostering, we ensure that all of the children and young people in our care are provided with a safe and secure place, where they are encouraged to thrive. Our managers, agency staff, and leaders all care about the children in our care as if they are our own. We take deep pride in our children’s and young people’s achievements.

We offer extensive training to all of our foster carers, the training programme is personalised to your needs as a foster carer and to the child. Our support is second to none. We pride ourselves on offering 24/7 support to our families, 365 days a year.
