Meet our care leavers, Danny and Jenny

28 October 2015

Danny and Jenny are just like any other brother and sister. They care about each other and help each other.  They love their mum and dad and cherish their home.  The only difference between this family and others is that Danny and Jenny aren’t blood relatives, they arrived separately to live with Vin and Liz, but over the years they’ve forged a lasting bond and now, they’re celebrating each others success.

There’s no doubt in Danny’s mind that if he hadn’t gone to live with foster carers, Vin and Liz, at the age of 15, his life today would be very different.

Today, at the age of 26, Danny is a successful businessman, living in London, supporting himself and enjoying life to the full.

Family life

“Vin and Liz are absolutely amazing foster carers; stunning people.  They gave me a better understanding of the world.  They gave me a family home and, most importantly, they gave me a family and I’m still part of that family today.”

We love our mum and dad

We celebrate birthdays, family events and Christmases together, just like every other family.  We’re no different, we all love and care for each other as if we were all blood relatives and they’re my mum and dad.  They’re my mum and dad.”

Off to uni

Danny takes seriously his role of ‘big brother’ to his younger fostered siblings “On Saturday, I’m taking my kid sister, Jenny, to check out one of her uni choices, Cardiff.  She was only 5 when she came to live with us, now here she is, 17 already!  I’m so proud of her, she’s doing so well at college and it’s testimony to the care, support and love from Vin and Liz, our mum and dad, that she’s going on to uni.  Statistically, *only 6% of care leavers go to university, compared with 38% of all young people, so she’s doing fantastically!

If you could become a foster carer and make a family, please, get in touch with us. We will help you, guide you and support you every step of the way.
