Recently one of our sibling groups, two girls, took charge and chaired their own LAC review. This is a Looked After Child review, where the plan for the children is discussed as well as their progress and achievements.
Their carer Nini said:
“Their social worker gave them titles to cover i.e health, school, contact, and the girls asked social workers and me for input.
They said they feel it gives them a voice to be heard which gives them some control. They get to hear the input from each social worker with varying ideas for solutions.
It’s a good exercise for a child to speak up and gain some confidence for any such meetings in the future. The girls said they “feel involved in the decisions made about them.”
