what’s going on in foster care fortnight?

13 May 2019

Foster Care Fortnight is the UK’s biggest awareness campaign for foster care. Running from May 13th-26th, it’s a time when foster carers and staff from all agencies can come together to show support and appreciation for the foster carers already working hard to support local young people, but also get the attention of more potential foster carers and families.

Foster Care Fortnight is promoting #changeafuture this year, as that’s exactly what fostering does – change the futures of fostered children and young people, as well as the foster families who look after them.

This year Nexus Fostering, are taking part with a drop-in event roadshow ready to answer your questions and share what it is like to be part of an independent fostering agency, you can find them here.

Our Recruitment Manager, Peter Norman said:

“The team and I are looking forward to meeting people and talking about fostering, whether that’s answering a question or talking someone through the application process. Anyone who thinks they can help a child or young person is welcome, but there is a particular shortage of those willing to look after siblings, or take on Parent and Child placements”

“We know what a difference our foster carers can make, but the fact is there are not enough carers to match the numbers of children who need their help.”

If you could #changeafuture and make a difference, head down to see the team in one of our offices, read more on our website, or call 0800 389 0143.
